Q
Which language should I select in the "Preferred Language" field?
A
For example, if you select English, you will receive an Inquiry in English from a Client who also selected English. The same applies to Japanese. If you select both languages, you will receive both Inquires. In order to capture as many Inquires as possible, we recommend to select both if you can use both.
Q
In which language should registration information be written?
A
We currently use English and Japanese, and you can write in either language you prefer. If you write in English (or Japanese), you will receive Inquires from Clients who can understand your registered information and participate in the Session in English (or Japanese). If you can use both, we recommend to write in English, as it will lead to more Inquires to receive.
Q
What should you write in the "Keywords about your expertise/profession" field?
A
In addition to describing your expertise, career and background in relevant fields, we ask you to list keywords about your areas of specialty, themes, relevant technology and skills in this field, like “tags”. The information in the this field helps ShareFair algorithms find Advisor candidates more efficiently. [TIPS]: The more specific words, the better. For example, listing specific terms such as "NAND flash memory," "lithography " and "immersion exposure technology" rather than generic terminologies such as "semiconductor," "process" and "exposure technology".

What is an "Advisor-Tutorial"?
A
This is an interactive lecture on ShareFair website that explains the ShareFair's code of conduct and key compliance issues. We recommend you to visit it as early as possible after registration, because you can start accepting Inquiries only after completing the tutorial.
Q
It is difficult to specify the industry type due to the nature of my background. What should I input in this field?
A
In that case, you can select industries that are relatively close even if they may not exactly fit. You can also consider selecting multiple choices.
Confirmation of the session
Q
I received an Inquiry, but when I try to open the link provided, there is a warning. What is this?
A
Clients typically specify the name of competitor companies which they need to avoid due to a conflict of interest. ShareFair algorithm searches for candidates by avoiding Advisors who belong to the specified competitors. However, it is possible that there might be other unidentified competitors including affiliated companies and subsidiaries. Therefore, before an Advisor opens a Screening Question, we always ask Advisors to confirm that they don’t belong to such companies. If applicable, please select "Do not confirm the request as I work for a company listed above" on the message displayed to withdraw from the Inquiry.
※ Accepting a competitor's Session Request raises the possibility that the Advisor's proprietary knowledge leaks to the competitor. So please be mindful in opening or responding to the Inquiry.
Q
Will my client be notified of my phone number?
A
The advisor's phone number will not be communicated to the client from the outset, regardless of which method of conducting the session the client chooses to use. However, if the Adviser cannot be reached for more than five minutes after the session start time, it will be made available to the client so that the client can contact the Adviser.

After receiving an Inquiry, what should be done to receive an actual Session Request?
A
Please answer the Screening Question on the Inquiry. We recommend you to explain the reasons and background of your answers in light of your own experiences and knowledge even if the questions can be answered simply by Yes /No. Your thorough answer makes it easier for the Client to choose. You will be informed if you are chosen by the Client, so please proceed to fix the schedule and check Interview Questions on ShareFair website, typically sent 24 hours prior to the scheduled time.

When will I get paid for the Session?
A
The transfer will be made on the first upcoming 16th or the first day of next month after the session. So please fill in the required information to receive the reward.
Q
It seems that I can choose not to receive the fee for the Session. What is it?
A
ShareFair donates a portion of sales as one of charitable activities. Our philanthropy is focused on supporting underprivileged children and contributing to the widespread access to high quality education, and we are sponsoring the organizations which actively contribute to those areas. If you choose not to receive the fee, ShareFair uses equivalent amount for charitable activity including the donation to those organizations. It is also possible to choose to receive only a portion of fee.
In addition, in cases where your employer’s policy prohibits from getting compensation outside, you may still be able to participate in the Session by choosing not to receive the fee. Please consult with your employer regarding the working regulations and other restrictions.

Which organizations am I donating to, if I choose donating the Session fee?

Conducting Sessions
Q
How is the Session conducted?
A
All sessions are conducted in the form of a phone call or online video conference. When an interview session with the client is confirmed, you will be informed via email or calendar notification of how the client has chosen to conduct the interview. If an online video conference has been selected, please ensure that you are present at the start time. It is fine to turn off the video and participate in the audio-only.

Is there any problem with the session exceeding the scheduled time?
A
When the Client asks for extra time beyond the time initially agreed, please check your availability and respond accordingly (additional fee will be charged to the Client based on the extended duration). You may also confirm with Client if they are ok to continue for extra-time call, when the scheduled end-time approaches.

The client does not join the online session/call me at the scheduled session start time.
A
If the scheduled start time has passed and there is no answer to the telephone after several trials, please inform us by sending us the notice from “Contact” menu at the bottom of ShareFair website. We will also send a reminder if we detect no use of the conference line past the starting time and other preventative procedures as necessary.

I have already confirmed the Session schedule, but can I change it?
A
You can change the schedule anytime until 24 hours before the scheduled start time of the Session. However, we set a certain limit on the number of changes per Session (usually up to 3) to avoid inconveniences for both parties.

It is not desirable to change the date of a session frequently or at the last minute, but it is possible. Please submit a request to reschedule from the session details.Also, if you would like to cancel your session for unavoidable reasons, please contact us from this  link.
After the session
Q
What is the "follow-up" function?
A
When there are pending answers for some of discussion points during the session, the Client can ask the Advisor to do "follow up" to receive those pending answers provided there is a mutual agreement. It is done through sending a message from the Advisor to the Client on ShareFair website (files can be attached). Follow-up does not involve any additional fees, and it is optional for the Advisor to agree. We also limit the messages in the follow-up to once, in order to avoid excessive burdens on the Advisor.
If there is some information which only require you to quickly check and answer, it would be great if you accept the follow-up.

What is "evaluation"? What should be criteria?
A
"Evaluation" is intended to provide feedback on sessions and is critical to keep ShareFair community active and sophisticated. Evaluation is based on numerical scores (1 – 5) and comments. Evaluation criteria are, for example, depth of the Advisor's knowledge, comprehensibility, punctuality and politeness. Personal cultural backgrounds and the degree of knowledge in topics not covered in Screening Questions or Interview Questions should be exempted from evaluation.

To whom is the evaluation disclosed?
A
The evaluation is not disclosed to other Advisors or Clients, including counterparties of the Session.
Referral
Q
What is the Referral system? What is On-demand Referral?
A
Referral is a way to expand ShareFair community by introducing your fellow colleagues or friends as Advisor. Advisors can invite new Advisor to register at any time without particular open Inquiry. There is also a special type of referral called "On-demand” Referral. This applies only for Advisors and can happen only when an Advisor receives an Inquiry, based on which an Advisor introduces to ShareFair those who have a deep knowledge of the topic. In both cases, the fee will be paid from ShareFair to the person who made a Referral when this newly registered Advisor participate in their first Session.

Who can I introduce with a Referral? Is there a limit on the number of people?
A
Please introduce only those who are "familiar with each other". The person who intends to break into ShareFair community with malicious purpose should not be introduced. Please also note that there is a limit on the number of people (initially 10, with some cases to increase after a certain period of time). We recommend you to introduce experts with deep knowledge in a certain area as Advisors who are willing to participate in Sessions through ShareFair.

How can I do Referral?
A
Click the "Referral" button in My Page and select which to refer (Advisor or Client), then you will move to the page for generating the invitation message with URL for Referral. Please send it to the person you want to refer, so that he/she can register from the URL. Please note that there is a limit to the number of times you can generate it.
* "On-demand Referral" can be done from Inquiry view page with the same process as described above, which is available only when you receive the Inquiry from Clients.

When and how can I receive a Referral fee?
A
The fee will be paid on the last business day of the month following the month in which the newly-referred Client or Advisor participate in the first session.

If withholding is required, what procedures should be followed?
A
If a person living in Japan wishes to withhold tax, select "wish to withhold tax" in the applicable section of My Page.
Q
How can I leave ShareFair membership?
A
If you wish to leave from a ShareFair member, please submit your request using this link. Please note the following before leaving.
・ If you leave, you will not be able to access any data, including those registered in ShareFair.
・ New registrations with the same Email address or LinkedIn account will not be possible after leaving membership.
・ If you have open Inquiries, all will be canceled immediately. However, the Session that have already been confirmed will not be cancelled.
